Transatlantic cooperation is not something that is practiced exclusively in national capitals. Cities and regions in the United States and Europe maintain strong economic and cultural connections. Many urban and regional challenges are shared by cities on both sides of the Atlantic, creating opportunities for Europeans and Americans to learn from each other in their efforts to meet the needs of their citizens.  

Increasingly, the solutions for problems ranging from climate change to economic inequality are being developed at the local level, with national and international implications. As cities and regions become the proving grounds for innovative approaches to global challenges, transatlantic cooperation at the urban and regional level is more vital than ever.
